Default Need parts? Try here:

folks, there is a new player in town who wants your parts money. we have a member here on the board, pc pain, who just happens to be the parts manager for horny toad hd in temple texas. he asked to be given a fair shot at matching zanotti's price on parts. well, i just happened to have been at the local hd dealer earlier that day and had a couple of part numbers (not in stock at the local, go figure) that i was planning on ordering.

so i pulled them up in zanotti's and got the total price with shipping, then i contacted jon with my order. well, he did not match zanotti's price. he fricken beat it! granted it was only by $10, but really, it was only a hundred and something dollar order! now i'm sure it's gonna be different in another case (i got a mix of soft goods and hard goods, more of a markup) but jon ended up giving me almost 30% off!

i've tried the chicago route, won't ever do that again. i don't care if you give me a discount, if the customer service sucks, i'm not doing it again.

i've done surdyke, they were great to deal with.

i've done zanotti's, they have also been good to me. in fact that is where i have bought most of my stuff at.

well, i'm here to tell you, i will be going through jon first from now on out (as long as they will let him discount anyway). being in the next state over, shipping was cheaper and faster, and the service was awesome. if you just want to type in a part number and then pay, then jon is not for you. you have to call or email. but the order came in fast, he got it shipped to me right away, and he even included a little langniappe (in case you aren't from la, that means a little something extra, got a dealer poker chip)

help jon get their internet sales department busting ***. give him a call at horny toad hd, (254) 743-7200, email him at jon.horton@hornytoadhd.com.

thanks jon, pleasure doing business with you!!!!!!

Ya know, I'm glad there are folks like him out there. Seems like a whole lotta, "we've got the market locked up" mentality out there. I love to give business to new bizz, if the price and quality are right. Good for him!! I'll give him a look.

On the one hand I'm glad there's another player out there who is willing to participate in fair market pricing.

However, I just don't think it's fair or maybe even ethical to use the internet pricing engine that one seller has invested in; to generate a shopping list with pricing in order to solicit competitive pricing at another location. I'd prefer to submit my order to all sellers individually and let each of the sellers know that I've submitted this same order "elsewhere" and I will take the best deal that I'm offered. If a seller has a fair deal it'll be fair 24/7 no matter what some other guy around the block is doing.

Frankly I have used Zanotti's and other Dealers On-Line cataloging when I play "What if" scenarios for modifications I'm thinking about for my bike. I consider the availability of these On-Liine catalogs to be part of the value of doing business, and I'm willing to pay a small (the operative word here is small) premium to a Dealer for maintaining a site like that when I make a purchase.

I've experienced good customer service at Chicago Harley-Davidson. 3 weeks is about the longest I've had to wait for accessories.

cconan6, i'm not exactly sure what you're trying to say but the reason i worded it that way is because my order had soft goods in it, which have a higher mark up.

i dont think thats how he's doing it. i guess i misworded it. he asked for a chance to do better and i gave it to him, and he did better. he's not riding on their coattails, 'send me a price list and i'll beat it by a dollar' type of thing.

i'm just happy that there's a place closer to me that offers competitive pricing.

They quoted me a price on parts $3.00 cheaper (that was with shipping) than Zanotti's, so it's a wash really.

However, he (Jon) responded quickly (within an hour) to my request for a quote, and assured me that the part I wanted was not in a back-order status and would be shipped quickly. I'll give them a shot.

You gotta give him credit for even trying to beat a price instead of saying this is our price that's it.
