Default Rusty threads

I've got a 2010 Streetglide. Ive recently noticed some rust already starting inside the screw holes where the passenger peg mount attaches to the bike. Any ideas for a plug or something to pop in there to keep water out. Any idea what size hole that is too.

They make chrome plugs to go in those holes. You'll just have to figure out the correct size.

If I have said it once I've said it 100 times... the best way to prevent rust is to spray your bike down completely at least once a year with a can of WD40 or Jigaloo. It works itself into all the hidden crevices and the sort where rust starts... just wipe off the parts you touch until your first wash job. And wait a week or two before that first wash to let the water displacer do its job.

Lubricate it..If you cover it with caps or chrome make sure you lube it because the rust will eat it up if you don't....

Better than WD-40 would be a chain lube or white lithium. The threads are 7/16" and HD does have caps for the holes.Welcome to the Harley family!

The problem with chain lube or white lithium is that their use is restricted to just one or two applications... you can spray the whole bike down with WD40 and not worry. Also, I have found that WD40 penetrates any existing rust and stops it dead... no need to scrape and risk chipping off the paint as well.

I use G-96 gun treatment under the frame once a year and after the bike has been washed and is completely dry. I don't know what is in it but it keeps blued firearms rust free. Works great. Sprayt it on, wipe with a rag ....done.
