Sooner or later something is going to get you to at least drop it. Oil, gravel, sloped parking lot. IT just happens.
You think the guy that dropped it twice is on a streak? We took a road trip out west and the most experienced guy fell over once at a toll booth, missed getting the side stand down all the way and literally threw it over dirty side up (clear off the wheels and on the saddle bags), and finally dumped it on the fly while trying to latch a saddlebag.
Bad luck or poor judgement?
Remember all the fubars you can from others who have been there and TRY LIKE HELL NOT TO REPEAT THEM!
I've had my Night Train for 2 riding seasons, and have gone down twice. Last year, I got caught in an unexpected snowfall, had to stop quickly (pickup in front of me braking hard at a green light), and went down. Little damage. This year, pulling into my buddy's driveway, hit a pile of loose gravel and dumped her in front of a 1/2 dozen people. Not much damage to the bike - bent handlebars and a couple of scuffs on the bottom muffler and front master cylinder/brake lever. More damage to me. The air cleaner landed on my knee, crunching it nice and I bruised a couple of ribs. In the grand scheme, not really that bad. I guess next year it'll be grass! [sm=headbang.gif]
Just dropped it Only had it on the road about 3 months and my freshly painted front fender's bent, and all scratched up.[:@] I'm pissed!! Coming onto a roundabout car in front hits the brakes, I found a nice oil patch and hit the tarmac. Snapped my brand new forward controls too . But I can understand how someone would do it twice in one day...needless to say my day was a write-off and riding home my legs were like jelly! Need to get her back looking pretty.
Had this little fender bender when we were crossing the Sylvania Mountains on our way back across the desert into Nevada. You would think at 69 years old, I would know my limits on these demanding roads.
I crashed pretty good once many years ago, but it was a Honda - so it was ok. Never dropped a Harley, but I did lift my wife's up once - from on top of her!
When I was 21 I was at a street light early in the morning. I was tired and didn't even put my feet down.. Fell right over. People had to help me get up. Talk about embarressing. I am 40 now. Much more carefull. Been 20 years since I ever dropped a bike. I have spent almost $25,000. I better never drop it.
Rode for 45 yrs without a collision, fell over a few times with no damage. Thought I had it together til a recent "didn't see him" "left turn in front of me" type that crushed my lower leg. 12 screws and a Ti plate later I don"t feel invincible anymore. As it was happening my only thought was "I don't believe this is happening to ME".

Plenty of crashing in my dirt riding days back in the '60s. Also dropped a few over the years. However, I've never been involved in a collision/accident riding on the street. I've been riding since 1940.
