well thought i would change my pipes on my 09 fat boy myself .well first off i cant figure out where to un plug the o2 sensor wires so i can remove the exhaust with them still in it.you think they would unplug with in a few inches, but no,the front one goes in the front of motor into a black plastic box above the voltage reg,and the rear one goes under the oil tank and looks like up to under the seat wheres there a ton of boxs and wires.it cant be that hard ,how long are the wires gonna be hanging out of them any input would be greatful.
the rear one under the tank, you should be able to slide the whole connector off its mounting base then disconnect. i think its slid forward if i remember correctly. the frt one is just popping off the cover and disconnecting it. but yeah the rear one is a PITA..
The front one is under/inside the small plastic cover. Use a screwdriver and pry the plastic cover off and you will see the connector.
The rear one is under the oil tank. The wire is clipped to the bottom of the tank. Use a flashlight and take your time looking. If you can slide the wire off the clip then you'll be able to pull it out far enough to unplug the connector. Small hands will work better but I was able to do it with my extra large ones.
thanks guys will head out there in the morning and give it another try,now that i know were they disconnnect.will take that black cover off the front one first so i know what im looking for under the oil tank.you guys rock on here.these efi bikes are new to me,changed the pipes on my 93 fxdwg 5 times over the 16 years i owned it and they were simple.
you probably won't be able to see the rear connector real good.. better off to just follow the wire back from the sensor, grab a hold of the connector and give it a shove/twist and it should pop loose.. be careful to pull on the connector body only and not the wires themselves. if the mounting tab happens to break since its plastic, don't get to excited.. just use a zip tie to hold it up in place when your going back together.
thanks for that information on those connectors, cant wait to get up in the morning now to get those pythons 2-1 on and get it cranked up.also bought a extra performance baffel with it.hoping its much louder than those q series double barrel vance n hines.the Q i found out stand for quiet series and wanted some thing so loud that car alarms go off as i roll down the road.lol
