I have a son in law who is a bit hard headed. He had a Yamaha Virago but he blew it up. Last week he got a Honda something or other, 1100 ccs. Shadow maybe? Anyway, we rode to lunch the other day and I noticed that his bike sounded like $hit, real trebly and super loud. I asked him about it at lunch, he said "yeah, you know I like loud pipes so I took the baffles out". I asked him if he knew that he was killing his low end torque, he said he didn't care . He also wants to figure out how to get decel pop, go figure. Personally I can't stand loud pipes, we are going on a group ride this weekend so I am going to keep him behind me, he is a throttle blipper on top of all that, I hope he outgrows it.
Just slip out at night and push a potato into the exhaust, it'll cut off perfectly and slide right in. Throw away the discarded evidence. You won't have to worry about listening to him on the ride, he won't be going. You can easily take it out with a fork later as you come to his rescue and save him from himself. LoL
He is probably over in the Honda forum telling everybody about his Harley lovin FIL who he loves to aggravate the **** out of by removing the baffles, blipping the throttle and trying to get his bike to decel pop....I mean cmon man this can't be a coincidence.
Well' it is his bike and not mine so I guess if he wants to ruin it then it is none of my business, its just hard to accept that he is only into how it sounds and doesn't give a damn about performance. I just don't understand that type of "thinking".
Sounds immature. Sometimes they grow out of it. We don't get to pick who our kids pick and that is probably a good thing. I would hate to see what my parents would have matched me with. My Mother never was impressed with my girlfriends or either one of my two ex-wives. My ex-wife's mother cried when she found out that her daughter was going to marry me. I thought she didn't like me---now she likes me a lot more then her new son in law. Go figure. Nice to be considered a good choice now.
