Default Powder coat pricing????

Was going to start pulling some trim of my bike to get coated. Looking to get the horn cover, strut covers and belt guard done in black. I am going to start calling around, but wanted to put out some feelers here to see what type of quotes would I expect to see for those 4 pieces.. thanks all...matty

Dr Matt, check out the following link. I have used them and they did a very nice job for me. Prices are good.

Depends on your area and how good of a job they do. Weve got a bad *** coater around here i dont even want to mention what he charged to do my beach cruiser, license plate mount, and console.

Not sure if this will help or not when I bought my bike I was quoted by the dealership for full dissambly and powder coat, $800. This was a few years ago though so I don't know if it's more or less expensive.

35 per strut cover
25 for horn cover
15 for horn bracket
50 for belt guard

that is what we would be around

Sorry this is not an answer to your question, but not knowing much about powder coating, I'd like to know why it is popular. What are the benefits of it compared to paint? Personally, I like paint better-powder coating reminds me of a chocolate covered raisin. Must be an old fart thing, I have trouble with change, like composite pistols-my old school steel 1911 colt .45 works for me.

Aside from price I would be researching "reputation" of the powdercoaters you are thinking of using. There are some good ones and some really bad ones. I had a frame done and it turned out flawless. It cost just under $400.

Unfortunately the good guy closed up shop and moved somewhere. I had Fork lowers, tins and a headlight bucket for an FL Softail I wanted done in gloss black. I had to find another powdercoater. I used a shop in Philly PA. It cost me $600 for everything and there wasn't ONE piece that didn't have some kind of flaw on it. One leg was smooth but had a few rough pieces of something on it (like the guy powdercoated over metal shavings) and the other leg looked like the texture of an orange. The other tin pieces all had bumps, "fish-eyes" and other imperfections. What Bdobb had said is true, all my front end parts basically looked like the texture of Chocolate covered raisins.

When I told him the work wasn't acceptable he told me "It's powdercoat NOT paint, If you wanted it perfect you should have had the pieces PAINTED instead"!!!

I would ask to see some of their work. If it looks good (with no flaws) I would tell them that's what you expect YOUR parts to look like when they are done.

Toastman, Im in Massapequa afew people mentioned Action, Im going to call or stop by.. just another question my parts are still chrome, is there anything I would need to do to them, or will that all be handled by a coater.. thanks again..
