DYNAS RULE!![sm=nxsmile.gif]
Trouble with Dynas is the frame. It ain't bad, but mounting the swingarm to the tranny limits the possibilities. I'm thinkin' long term that Dynas won't be available as chop-fodder 'cause the trannies will end up trashed in the swingarm mount area.
Now the real geezer-glides have that same problem, plus an ugly frame, and an ugly reversed triple tree front end. Just not chop-fodder like the old style FL series.
best advice is like another member said, go to your local dealer and just test ride some big twins cause as you can see, opinions are varied on the models.
i moved from a 02 custom sportster to a softail night train and couldnt be any happier. the night train handles like a cadillac compared to the sporty. the ride is a helluva lot more comfortable and i find myself able to ride longer so i have no regrets at all with the night train (except for the payment but thats another story).
well i want to down long rides, and i have looked at both... alot!!! i realy also am into making the bike to make a statment, and just chop it and make its own monster! It has to be lound and able to turn heads[:-]
I was torn between Dynas and Softails --- I think when the decision's tough you can reach a point where you almost have to demonize one or the other in your mind by focusing what the negatives are.
Both of 'em have their positives and negatives---------> The very best advise I got was:
1."Forget all the BS,buy the one that really gives you a woody, the one you just love to go out to the garage and stare at.
2.Rent or test ride at least one or more bikes and see what you think.
My Streetglide will beat your,,,,er,,,,antique there zukeeper!
antique !! Ohh man ,now you went and hurt his feelings. As far as your streetglide being quicker............................ahh crap , why lie ...yep , I'm sure you could take me
It is common knowledge that the Dyna suspension is smoother than the softail. They are both great examples of the classic HD and you really can't go wrong either way.

Sorry Mike, disagree, I think the softail ride is smoother than the Dyna. Goat, nothing will handle like your Sporty (I know, I had one before my Fatty) but I can't tell you how much more comfortable my Fatboy is than my '06 Sporty. It's like night and day. I felt I sat ON my Sportster, I feel I sit IN my Fatboy. It is eaier to ride, especially at very slow speeds, and it feels more "substantial" somehow. The Dyna is a bit nimbler than the Fatboy, but not as comfortable (for me anyway, 5' 7", 29" inseam). In the end it's personal preference, but I love my Fatboy and I think it's typical of the softail line. Borrow or rent one and I am sure you would be hooked.
