But this OP may be speaking of church in the Bible study sense. Why jump to the conclusion he is in some sort of traditional MC ?

I didn't think he was in a MC from his question. I thought he was in a Christian RC.
C'mon guys, I'm going with the assumtion these responses are on the sarcastic side and not serious, right? The OP was, IMO, eluding to it being a Church in the MC sense.
RC's don't have church, colors or Ol Ladies (in the MC sense of the term Ol Lady). RC's have business/ride meetings, store bought patches and wives/girlfriends.

In the MC world we call each other Brother or patch holder. A "member" is someone in church on Sunday. I say the OP isn't in a club at all. Just my opinion.
Let's assume he is not member of a M/C in the 1% class. He could very well be a member of a Christian Motorcycle Ministry (M/M). He could be wearing a three piece on the back of his cut along with the M/M patch. As long as he pays dues and stays in good standing then the cut is his to wear. If he falls out of grace then I assume he must give the cut back. In his eyes AND THE EYES OF THE LORD he is a member of something. They might allow his wife to wear his colors as long as she is riding on the back with him. Who knows what their by-laws are.

I say he is likely not in any organized club or association. Nada. Hence the strange question. Just my take on it.
odd question... interesting replies. As for my Brothers wearing my extra set of "colors" to get his sewed on? Not gonna happen. In some cases he can pin his new patches on till he gets a chance to sew them on or he sits and sews them on right then and there. Depends on how big of hurry we are to get to where we're going. No one (other than another patchholder) even touches my colors. Not my wife, kids or anyone else. And you're right, once earned, you wear them! Every mile. protocol from my "Christian" MC...
Clubs have bylaws that are rules for members to go by. This will cover "club colors" and how to display and wear.
Some family oriented clubs will have a modified patch that should be worn by non-members to be viewed on passengers from the back.
If you earned your rockers and patch, why would you let someone else wear them???
