The thing is they probably made money. How many tickets do you think they wrote? They dont do it because they want to stop accidents - they do it because they make a TON of money.
Any other states seen an increase in check-points?? I've been in NJ for almost 3 years and I see a few every summer. But, they're always in the same spot. Problem is there's a right turn right before their stop. Funny how much more traffic seems to use that road on days they're out there. No one seems to care either.
Here in Texas the state legislature is trying to pass a law that PASSENGERS have to have a motorcycle endorsement. The bill reads "sportbike" but there is no definition of what a sportbike is. Our COC&IR has been active in trying to get it thrown out.
Correction
There IS an attempt to define a "Sportbike". Sec 3 18a see A,B,C, and D
Horrible legislation. I strongly suspect the bill will die in Homeland Security Committee on Tuesday. Yes that Homeland Sec. If not there then the timeline to pass on the floor of the Tx Senate is real tight so it may not make it out.
Its been real difficult getting the Sportbike community aware and active but the Defenders are on it.
Just remove the word Sportbike and it gets us all.

Gubberment at its finest. Have checkpoints ever been challenged in the SCOTUS? Every time I read about any check point here in the US I flash back going through checkpoint charley into east berlin back in 84 and 86, frikken sad days in our country.
