old rt 66 mountain heights
question i have for those of you who have done the routes
mountain heights
yes i am scared of heights
so i am wondering what comments any of you have to make. and try to avoid things like don't go, give up, wus, etc.
the mackinaw bridge in michigan does make me nervous but i am able to do it
going thru the badlands in south dakota i can do.
but neither of those are what i think i will be encountering out west.
any part of 66 you would recommend to avoid
btw, am thinking of going to jerome in AZ. and that has some pretty interesting road.
any other comments about the hieghts and views etc.
being from chicago, the highest things we have are man made bridges
Sure, there are mountains out here! But, you are not going to the top of any! The elevations at most are 10,000 ft, but it isn't on the side of any mountains. You will be fine.
If you WANT to climb a mountain - you can drive up to the top of Pikes Peak - over 14k feet with plenty of steep drop offs! But, I am guessing you don't want that, right? lol
Enjoy the trip!

If you want to see it you can go from Kingman around to Laughlin and come in from the Laughlin side which should be fine. Just avoid the route 66 route from Kingman.
