Ive been going to Laconia for about the last 12 years. I would say 50% if that was rain most of the week. Its just part of the "enjoyment " of Laconia. One year I rode up in the rain rode in the rain all week then rode home in the rain. I was a little moist by the end of that week. But I have been to Sturgis in 2005, 2009 and this yr im heading out too. Now on the past 2 trips to Sturgis I had Tornadoes chasing me and had to find cover fast. Thats a real experience. 2009 I had baseball hail and Tornadoes one afternoon, porta pottys blown down, tents blown away, but all in a day in Sturgis. So you see, everywhere you go there is something to contend with, I would take rain over the Tornadoes and Hail any day. Hopefully this year in Sturgis I will break my streak of Tornado and have a beautiful week. Sure makes for stories though when you get home. You can find videos of the hail storm on youtube just type in 2009 Sturgis hail storm. I plan on Laconia next year again, rain or shine, i love the riding up there. jeff
Oh rain week. I was up there and enjoyed the rain had my rain gear but wish I brought a snorkel! By the way nice right up and the pic of the sister bartenders at the broken spoke made me smile. They served me a couple of cold ones and had some funny stories
Despite the rain day after day after day -everyday from June 9th-16th, I managed to stay drunk and have a good time without getting in too much trouble. Can say that soggy tent gets old fast. Heck, the rain just started in my parts tonight.....
Laconia Bike Week is synonymous with rain. Given the weather, I think me and the boys planned our trip fairly well this year. We went down on Thursday the 16th....close to a 500 mile ride, and we had amazing weather. Friday afternoon and into the evening, we had some nice torrential downpours to ride in. Outside of that, Saturday was nice and Sunday was our ride home. Outside of being a bit cool, we didn't hit any rain until we were about half an hour from home.
Rode the Kancamangus, Mt. Washington Rd., Bear Notch, and others. Spent a total of about one hour at Weir's Beach. Man, you could plop me down in that place five years from now and nothing will have changed. All the same crap, same vendors, even their booth locations are the same.
All in all, a good time. When that rain hits, I just think of work. Like they say, a bad day riding is still better than a good day at work!
Went up on Tuesday to North Conway, wet on the way up. Wed and Thur were dry and almost perfect weather. Drove home on Friday into rain. Guess we picked the best two days
Wednesday rode over to Laconia Harley, Weirs etc and looked around and had a great time. Thursday rode around the North Conway Area and had a great couple of days on the bikes. Beat the hell outa being at work
