Riding Alone
#41
95% of my riding is alone. I'm lucky that I live in an area of SE Michigan that is thick with bikers. Always an understanding brother or sister somewhere near by. Ran out of gas last summer (yup, didn't reset my tripometer and trusted the Harley gauge). For the 30 minutes I waited for my wife to show up with a can I must have had 10 bikers stop to see what I needed--a phone, tools, even a few bucks. Not one car stopped. Go figger.

Great input folks! I've been on several Kyle Petty charity rides and we were stretched out 3 1/2 miles on I85 here in NC. Enjoy them but pretty hectic for sure. Plus if you want to ride with friends you have to set a time/place to meet then the weather turns into a factor. I can handle a good 'organized' ride but a 'spur of the moment' ride is the best thing going. Thanks for the input and be safe out there.

I'm retired also and do the same as you pretty often. Had an excellant riding partner that had the same free time as I and would pull into the drive anytime and off we would go. Unfortunalty, he passed away to cancer last July. BTW,,,,this was my uncle andn
best friend.

I went on my first group ride 2 weeks ago and it was a hoot. The guys I rode with are from a local forum. They all knew how to ride so it went off without a hitch. I rode in from 50 miles away. We met up at a service station and jumped off from there. It was a charity ride for a little girl with cancer. We rode in left a wad of cash and rode out. Damn that made me feel good! I could'nt have wished for a better first group ride!

Have Motorcycle - Will Travel
I also like to ride alone, but have absolutely no problem with a group of friends as well. I have this really bad habit of riding country roads and when I pass by an intersection, if I "wonder where that road goes"....I turn around and go see. That is not an option with a group. I get lost alot, but always find my way home.
