I would think some US dealers are disappointed and going to feel the impact as well as customers outside the US. Does this approach work anymore?
I am guessing there is an opportunity for someone here. What stops a buyer here from buying at the discounters, adding a modest margin and selling to "friends" overseas or on ebay? I think they are opening the door for someone else to eventually find a way around (or maybe 100's of power-ebayers?) which they would find hard to control.
Funny how the double standards never cease. Anything and everything is allowed to be imported, but never the other way around. This is an excellent example of Americans selling out Americans. This country deserves what it gets.
...Order you parts, have them shipped to someone in the US and then pay them to ship them to you...
I had a couple of friends in South America who did this for years, often the parts were simply carried down by the US guys on business trips down there (often wondered what Customs would say).
Maybe some sort of network could be set up thru HDF? Members outside US could post their needs, members inside could respond.
Thank u all I don´t have problem with this because my daughter are living in Orlando and I visit US every year but I think that all this sucks When dollar have low value like now prices in Sweden the same but when dollar is strong prices up at once and if u in US thinks harley parts are expencive I can tell u that in Europe now prices about 50% higher
I still think I should choose where I want to buy parts with my own earned money

It's nice to hear that you don't have a problem with what you started out as a problem.

I was thinking for other Harley people in europe that don´t have this chance and also the economi in US very bad so I thought that some dealers in US could make some dollars for selling to europe

Your real problem is with the import duty your government imposes on your products...not with Harley Davidson. Your local dealers are putting pressure on Harley corporate to cut the sales off NOT the other way around. So your problem is a local one. That is the problem with socialism..it costs a lot. Harley doesn't care where they sell parts but their foreign franchises do not want to be undercut because we now have weak currency. Sorry, complain to your government...if you are allowed.

Who will pay the duty or pay the fines or jail time for smuggling? Hellooooo? Sweden is a socialist country...HUGE import duty.
