LOL! Gotta admit, after I had major back surgery 7 yrs ago, Doc gave me a bunch a scripts and said no to everything for a long time. Within 2 weeks of the suregery I was on the 'ole FXR and testing out the back. All went well thankfully!
Riding is good medicine. Get back on and do it as soon as you can. I once broke my leg in a crash. As soon as the full cast came off and a walking cast was put on, I started riding again. I also rode a little after both my carpal tunnel surgeries much sooner than the doc recommended. Just test the water and if you feel comfortable get on it and go.
I just started riding again last Friday, two months after surgery on my right foot. Just follow the doctor's orders. At every checkup I asked when I can ride again. At the last visit he said OK but be careful. He also told me my foot may take up to six months to be back to 100% but it was good enough to ride if I took care of it with extra support.
Good luck with your surgery!!! FOLLOW THE DOCTOR'S ORDERS.
I had major back surgery in '94 and could not work for six weeks, light duty for six more.
As soon as the doc cleared me for "regular" activity, I WAS RIDIN".....
Good Luck man.
Anyone here have total knee replacement? I'm probably getting mine done in January. I'm only 51 YOA but there's nothing they can do except replace it.[:@]
I had mine done 5 years ago this month. I was 45 at the time. Best thing I have ever done. Pain would get so bad I could hardly walk thur a grocery store with out sitting down. It is just now starting to be a little painful and I need to get to the Doc to have him check it out and make sure it has not loosened, but other thatn that it has been great.
I heard the procedure has gotten a whole lot less painful now than when I had mine. Thank god for morphine drips.
Good luck with it.
Wow you guys, I've been told (UK) that I have to wait till I'm 60 till I can get a replacement knee joint - don't like doing it here on younger guys in case they have to do it again in later life. Thing is I'm 45 and don't look forward to 15 more years of pain till it gets fixed - I want a decent knee NOW!! I had a knee scope/cartledge op around a year ago - I was back on the bike after a month but that was prob a bit too soon - I was VERY careful but still had some bad twinges for the first few rides when I came to a halt.

I've had knee probs. as long as I can remember. 5 knee surgeries and ice hockey did me in. Doc said their thought on waiting to 60 is out since at an earlier age you recover quicker and have a better quality of life. He said it should last 15-20 years then can be replaced up to three times if needed. I'm guessing I'll only need one replacement of the replacement. LOL[sm=devilangel.gif]
