First, is deal a whole 5 year warrantee with tires and wheels free or just $1,000 towards it? If it is, I'd ask if they would give you the $1,000 gift card AND half off the warrantee! It's in their interests to do so since they gross another $900 or $1000 and you get both deals worth almost $3,000 for about $1,000. Sounds like a win-win to me, but that's just me!
It all depends...if you plan on really modifying your bike heavily then the card would be your best option, if not, then they warranty would be the only way to go.
Dealer is hoping you'll take the gift card.. I mean really, what's his cost on $1000 worth of merchandise? Assuming you pay sales tax at 5% that's really only about $950 worth of stuff ( I pay 12% here in BC so even worse lol) and their cost on that $950 is most likely about $375-450.. way less bucks out of his jeans if you go that route..
That and on my FatBob the stator and fuel pump both packed it in within the 2 original 2 years to the tune of about $3k so right or wrong I opted for the 5 yr plan on my new Street Glide..
