Excellent ride report with great pics. Thanks for posting it. Used to live in Tyler, east of the Metroplex, and remember well that hot, grim ride up 287 to Amarillo. But I also remember how good it felt as I rode through Dalhart toward Raton, knowing what lies ahead.

It's sad how much I've changed over the years. So much time in New Orleans and Dallas, when people came up to me at first I thought they were working me for a hand out. It was good to talk to people that weren't working an angle and as much as I travel in a pickup or suburban I have never had the amount of people talk to me as I did looking at a map with a bag strapped on my bike.
