This really isn't that difficult. I just put the key halfway between the off position, and the fork lock position. It's just become habit. Turn it off, then just wedge it a wee bit further, and there it stays. Matter of fact, it's there now.
Sounds good, will try it I hate when it falls out, gotta get off walk around and pick it up [:@]

I have to admit, I do chuckle a little everytime the key falls out of the wifes LR, "me bad".

I turn it a hair towards the fork lock direction.
Stays in good that way

I do the same as Keith_H, just a hair towards lock. It works well. It is a poor design. The only thing that I do not like about the bike is the key.

As an afterthought ,I checked the Owner's manual to see if they had anything to say about this---Not a word except WideGlide owners should remove the key before riding.

Was talking to a Vrod guy today. Their key is located on the right hand side of the motor. He told me the key popping out is a problem with them too but with the added feature of dropping the key between the engine and the muffler where it's Really hard to get out.

Apparently barrel design keys just arent a good idea on motorcycles. Maybe the folks at HD will figure this out one day.
