Harley Dealer vs. Yamaha Dealer

I have had good stories about dealers from several brands, and bad stories too. It sounds like your story illustrates that the HD dealer that you stopped at understands the business he is in, Customer Service.

My one buddy who used to ride Harley and now has BMW's just traded one touring bike (i dont know the models of Beemers) for another used plus an enduro type.
Anywho,, I gave him a ride up to pick up the second one and the dealer says "she was run thru the shop" "everything is tip top". He has me hold it level as he pops the seat off so he can check the engine oil (what a cluster **** of an ordeal to go thru just to check the oil) and low and behold, NO OIL ON THE STICK!
Crappy dealers come in all brands

Not true. My first bike was a Yamaha. It was very finicky. Left me on the side of the road once or twice. My Harley (s) have never left me stranded.

I've heard the expression used when people have called into Rush Limbaugh. "Mega kudos Rush"
I thought it was just some snobby right wing republican slang or Rush just liked the candy bars.

I'll add two more stories to illustrate my belief that the good experience at HD of Salina, KS was not a fluke.
Same trip, another buddy needed a repair on his Fat Boy. Electrical kept cutting in and out as if someone was shutting the ignition switch off. Made it to HD of Rapid City, SD and same story -- because he was on a road trip and away from home, he went to the front of the line, they got his bike on the lift immediately, and found a defective main circuit breaker.
On a ride Memorial Day weekend a buddy picked up a big nail/spike in his rear tire. Made it to HD of Joplin, MO... same story. Because he was on a road trip away from home they took his bike right in, got it up on the lift, and had a new tire on in no time.
I'm sure there are good dealers, better dealers, and bad dealers. But in my experience you have to say this about HD dealers in general -- they're good about taking care of riders who are out on the road, away from home, and in need of assistance.
