I never realized the old tires were so bad. It felt like a completely different bike and both the ride and handling are greatly improved. Stayed with same tires, ME880 but it sure made a big difference! Now if they’ll just stay round.
I just had the same experience - replaced my front tire on the WG and all of the sudden it handled like a dream again. I went with the HD Dunlops, since that's what my indy had in stock.
You often see people claim one tire is better than the other, but I wonder how often they are truly performing an apples to apples comparison. If you're pulling off your worn out Dunlops and putting on brand new Metzelers of course it's going to seem like a new bike. It will seem like a new bike with brand new Dunlop's, too. Has anyone ever tried different NEW tires back to back?

Nothing like it. You forget how they "were". You don't notice the change because it's a small amount little by little and before you know it you're used to the crappy tire feeling. And then you put new ones on and it's a whole new bike! Great feeling. Same for the cages too.Just changed my truck tires and had an alignment done. Forgot how great it rides.
It is a personal quirk from childhood. My Grandfather told me always look at a man's shoes and his tires. They speak of his wealth, health, and intelligence. I have used this throughout my life. Doesn't work as well with women----most are shoe fashion conscious and their tires only speak of mostly outside influence but there are exceptions.

I put a new ME880 on the rear about a month ago. BIG difference. I have a friend who just put Metzeler tires on where Avons used to be. Says the Avons handle better than the metzelers and Dunlops but wear way faster.
I like how the ME880's handle. I am on the second set of ME880's on my Wideglide. Less than 10,000 miles a set over cupping issues. My garage has a built in compressor and my tires are always properly inflated---for the inflation folks. I will be going back to Dunlop's. ME880's handle good but they wear bad for me. I might look at the Michelin's before opting on the Dunlop's. I have never ran anything but Dunlop's on my Heritage. 15,000 miles on a back tire +/- and 25,000 miles on a front tire+/- a few miles.
