Default New tire cut

Maybe I'm a little more skiddish than I need to be, so I'll ask what you all think. The tire is brand new, maybe 200 miles on it, I don't think I hot anything in the road but could have, it looks like someone tried to knife it in a hurry and failed, whatever happened I don't know.
The cut is about 1/8" deep at one edge and tapers to nothing on the other edge. What im undecided on is if I should just ride and keep an eye on it or get it replaced. I'm not worried about a blowout, but wonder if it will open more and begin peeling. I can warranty it out I'm sure since I have road hazard coverage on my tires and wheels. What ya think? I know it's hard to tell in a pic.

I would not worry about it if it's not touching the casing, and I don't think it even got close.

It's a superficial tread cut. I've had it on everyone of my tires. Maybe from a grated bridge or something. Don't worry about it.

Thanks guys, I'm not too concerned, so I will just keep an eye on it and if rubber starts chunking out I'll warranty it then.

Any chance it got cut removing the plastic wrap that the tire came in? It doesn't look very deep at all. If it could be replaced for free have it replaced. If not I'd keep an eye on it. my guess is that it will disappear with a little wear.

Slide a flat feeler guage it until it bottoms out. Compare the depth against your tread depth. That will tell you if you have issues!
Hatch.

Can you get road hazard protection now at dealers? Hadn't heard that one. How much do they charge for that service?

Looks like a cut from a box knife taking the wrapping off. Not very deep. In three to five thousand miles it won't even be there.
