Default Pimpcycle????

Is there such a thing? Can you put so much chrome and so many do-dads on a bike that it just becomes some sort of garish ghetto blaster?

I was surfing through the ads on ebay (I can always dream) and saw so many bikes where they talk about having $46K invested or $20K in accessories, blah, blah and a lot of these things looked like they ought to be ridden by someone that wears a clock around his neck or whose teeth are all gold. Ugly stuff.

I might be alone in this opinion, but I think there comes a point where adding chrome crap just because it's available might be pushing the envelope.

Anyone else feel that way?

Keep in mind that when people say 20 K or 40K invested it usually means stuff like:
1) New upgraded motors (95in, 96in, 103in, 110in) Even replaceing motors (S&S)
2) CAMs, headers,
3) Wide tires kits/Tires
4) Lowering kits
5) upgraded carbs (mikuni, etc)
6) Lighting
7) Custom Paint
8) Wheels
9) Exhaust systems

This gets really expensive. 20K is nothing when its all said and done. best part about owning a Harley (in my opinion) is making it your own.

I rode Gold Wings for a long time. Now THERE is a crowd that can go over the top. [sm=bling.gif]

One of the things I was thinking about when I was looking at these things was the Gold Wings and the old Baggers that had all the freaking lights on them. Remember when a lot of baggers had about 200 lights that wrapped all the way around the back of the bags and trunk? And the Gold wings too... Same deal.

I guess I just tend to be a somewhat "low-key" guy...

I had all that.

Never did figure out why. I was just something we did.

There's a fine line between tasteful and tacky. Lots of guys don't know the difference. They think their bike is a Christmas tree and just keep sticking crap on it.

Gee, your question about can there be too much chrome?... that's kinda like asking can there be too much good weather! A 650 BSA I had in the 60's had been virtually 100% chromed by the PO, even the tank and fenders... the 'Chrome Coffin' was just the greatest locally! And ran like a stripped-*** monkey too.

But, your question about all the over the top foo-fah-rah?... I think for many riders it is just fun entertainment to look at on other's bikes, I really like to see it and hope the artists keep it up! It's a good source of ideas. It's really a do your own thing part of why bikes are uniquely cool to mess with and be around.

IMO
