Default Lid Opened at Highway Speed

I saw this happen to a guy today on 287 in Texas. He was in the other lane with a strong cross wind. He must of had the tourpack unlatched on his ultra. When I spotted him he was slowing down to stop. I can just imagine how it felt traveling down the highway in heavy cross wind and have the lid blow open like that! It has a large sail area! Has it happened to any of you?

No, but I have had my sportster soft bag open when I forgot to tie it down. No big deal and could hardley feel it. Did notice though and looked back to see what was up.

Havn't experienced that, however when I was a motorcycle messenger I had my magnetic tank bag blow off of my bike on the 405 freeway once. I went back and couldn't find it anywehre. Needless to say our client was very upset tat I lost their aircraft bolts or whatever they were. A couple of days later I was on that freeway at the same spot and I spotted the bag while in rush hour traffic so I slowed and picked it up(it was against the center divider) It was torn to shreds and there was nothing in it...

I also had a couple of packages slide off the back of my seat from underneath a bungee and cargo net. I think I got fired from that company...

I could not tell if he lost anything. But I bet it scared the S*&# out of him. Wind is gusting to 25mph now but I'm getting ready to ride anyway. First I'm going to check the latches on the tourpack.

Not the tourpack yet.

A buddy had his hard side bag open on his StreetGlide at 75. It sucked pretty much anything that weighed less than a pound out.

In 1983 I owned a Suzuki GX300 that I used to ride back and forth to work with. One day while doing about 80 my lunch box flew off the back of the bike. This was back when a thermos was made of glass so my ice tea was rather crunchy when I opened it up. Sandwich was a little squashed too but still edible!

This embarrassing.

Years ago, the Mrs (Former Mrs, to be more specific) was "sick"..you know...that "illness" they get 5 days a month that turns them into sabre-toothed, biotches.

In a moment of clarity, she asked me to go to a friends house, to borrow some tampons. Stupid me, I agreed, and rode the m/c.

The friend grabs like 15 of 'em, and puts them in a paper bag. I had a metric, no bags of any type, so I am carrying them in my left hand, with the top of the bag wrapped in between my hand and the handlebar. 1/2 way home, it starts to rain. Coming in to my little hometown, where everybody knows everybody, there is a rail road crossing. I hit the tracks, the contents of the bag starts to bounce; the wet paper tore, and all of these tampons fall out on to the street.

I did NOT stop to pick em up. And she turned into MORE of a sabre-toothed biotch. She never DID ask me to go get "feminine hygeine crap" again tho !!!
