Default Riding with your friends friends

I believe you have the right to say no..
Your friend should understand that.
I wouldn't want to be put in a position like that..

I when on a trip with a guy from work.
I planned this road trip and he kind of wanted to go..
But I ended up waiting on him at every corner.
Our riding styles where so different that it make my trip horrible.
I'd pull out from a stop and look in my mirror and he wouldn't be anywhere to be seen.
By the third day I was ready to leave him behind..

I had to ask once " are you afraid to roll the throat or what ! "
I no speed demon but this was like he was riding a Vespa..

You definitely have the right to say no, and it doesn't automatically make you a dick. I would have offered to meet the guy, maybe have a beer.
After all you are going to be riding with 1/2 million people you don't know.

Your choice. Personally, I wouldn't like it.

Send your friend a copy of this thread and tell him you'd rather not ride with his friend this trip.

I would just say "I only ride with strangers that I've known for a long time"

I agree with you , thats too long of a triup with too many miles to cover to suddenly have to accomadate someone else style of riding , short little day trip sure I would maybe ride with em , see how we got along noth socially and riding wise, but not a road trip that far or important.

In May I had a friend invite himself on a ride that was going to be personal time for me. 7000 miles, told him we were riding my ride, thought that would deter him since I am known for high mileage days. No deal. 1st day out 728 miles, still there. The guy is a good rider and a nice guy, but his crowd is 200-300 mile days. I have an agenda for things I want to do, so fill up to fill up, eat and drink at gas stops so I can spend quality time at the places I want to see. Anyway all said and done it turned out ok, but I don't think he will invite himself along again :0)

heck no.I wouldnt do it and i wouldnt feel bad about it either. This is not a time to see if you guys hit it off or if yalls riding style is similar eneough etc Later on you might find out hes a cool guy but now is not the time.Might meet up with him up there though and see what hes about---the funny thing is your friends friend is probably thinking the same thing you are.
