Need to pick your brains. A few mid michigan riders want a new rally/ ride area. We have done the big four. I like a rally for the sights/events but also want good riding nearby. If you can recommend a decent rally with good riding nearby post it up please.
I was thinking about the FourCorners rally in Colorado if anyone has attended please give me your thoughts.
I would recommend the Red River Rally in Red River, New Mexico. Its held Memorial Day weekend starting Thursday before Memorial Day Monday. Red River is located in the northern mountains of New Mexico and is an easy ride into southern Colorado. This is some of the BEST riding country I have ever had the pleasure of touring. The whole Taos and Santa Fe area of New Mexico is beautiful as well as historical (Santa Fe is one of the oldest cities in the US). You are within a day's ride of Durango, Colorado and the surrounding area. Ride the Million Dollar Highway. Folks just dont know what they are missing in the desert southwest!
The Red River Rally has good attendance with riders coming from all surrounding states. Good representation of vendors if you dont already own everything made of leather known to mankind. Entertainment is good, plenty of females around, and of course, plenty of brewskies if needed. Skip the FourCorners Rally......aint what it used to be by a long shot.
OK, I'll bite, which BIG four are you refering to? Sturgis, daytona?
For us in the west there is Laughlin in the spring and Vegas in Sept. Good times at either.
Sorry, yeah sturgis, daytona, laconia and myrtle beach. I have not been to laughlin. I appreciate all your responses. If I had to make a choice of people over roads I choose good rides/roads. Red River is intreging. Exactly the type of responses I was after. Keep em coming.
I agree about the Red River, NM area. There is some great country in Northern NM and Southern Colorado. A nice ride it from Taos over to Chama then to Alamosa to Pagosa Springs.
