It really gets to me how you spend so money on a bike and go online to make a payment and HD wants to charge you a 6.00 fee for doing so. What the hell is with this? It really sucks.
In June 2002, the US Postal Service increased their rate for postage. I had been using Quicken since 1991 to manage my checkbook and print checks. All my monthly bills got paid by printing out a check, dropping it in an envelope, adding a stamp and mailing. When the postage went up, it pissed me off and I decided to start paying my bills online using my bank's website. I calculated that I would save at least $80 per year in postage. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. Paying bills is SO MUCH EASIER using the bank's online system and it's FREE. I sit down with my laptop at the first of the month and schedule all my payments and it's done. In almost 10 years of doing this there has never been a screw-up with the payments...it works.
A side thought....as stated above, this was saving me about $80 per year in postage costs. I thought....what if 1 million other folks made the same decision. That would impact the US Postal Service (for talking purposes) 80 million dollars in revenue. If 10 million did it...$800 million. There's been lots of stuff on the news lately about the USPS being in financial trouble. Let's see...online statements, bill payments, emails....DUH.....
If you look at it, it is Chase charging 6 bucks, not Harley. Why do the cash guys always have to chime in on these threads? If somebody has a credit question obviously they don't have cash and hearing that you paid cash for yours contributes nothing and nobody is impressed or cares. Geeeez.
OK a long story made short, I MADE A MISTAKE and accidentally transferred money from my savings to my credit card account. Contacted the credit card division, not a problem they said as soon as it is done processing we will return it. OK I thought but let me call the checking and let them know. Called them told them that I had a check coming through that would bounce and explained the situation. NO PROBLEM they said I gave them the check number and they said they would tag the check and hold it until funds were available. OK took off for work and decided to check the account in Amsterdam. Not only did they not redeposit the amount but they put the check through and took the rest of my saving and checking account for the over draft fee. So I am sitting there with 2.38 to my name. Then they had to ***** to charge me a 35.00 over draft fee on another bill I had going out when I called and was assured that after 2 tries they would just not pay it. . YES it was my mistake but customer service at this bank was horrble. Online banking is great just be careful what button you push. All these conversations I had provided no confirmation number and I wont mention the bank the their initals are BankofAmerica
