just joined have a easy question i am going to buy a bike today i was going for 1200 sporster. a couple of friend have said get 883 others say its a girl bike. i look at the spec's and there the same except engine size. i just want to cruise i dont care about speed. any opinons would be appreciated.
I have read many posts by people who bought the 883 and wished they had bought the 1200. I have not read any posts by any one who bought a 1200 and wished they had bought and 883. Take that for what it's worth. You will recover most of the difference in cost the day you sell it!

The Sportster isn't a girl's bike, these days women ride everything HD has in the showroom. Both the 883 and the 1200 will get you anywhere you need to go but if you're going to be out there on the highway much at all or ride with a passenger I'd go for the 1200 or even a Superglide.
The 883's confort zone seems to end right around 55 MPH
