Yep. Leaning on the jiffy changes the angle of the primary opening and the oil level may be above the opening. Straight up will work.

Dangit I don't know why I was dyslexic in my sides this morning when I typed that...and I've even taken my derby off 4 times this summer (did a lot of IPB stuff and seal work). For some reason I was picturing all of that in the opposite direction.

LOL I get that way myself...You might have been thinking of the end cover for the tranny...Whenever you replace the clutch cable.

Thanks guys for the advice on the derby cover. I've been a fixit all my life and know all so well about that last bolt, nail, and nut that just won't cooperate but this time it all went my way. The cover went on as slick as snot and took her out for a nice long ride to seal the bolts and NO LEAKS, so thanks again y'all
Cheers and Ride Safe

Brenn,

While you are spot on about the threads, I believe they are all talking about stripping out the part where the tool engages the screw.

OK. Never had a problem with that. I think thread stripping is a much bigger worry - I can get a new screw a lot cheaper than new threads.
