I finally finished my stage 1 (w/pic) on my 2010 Super Glide Custom (FXDC). As you can see I added V&H Big Radius 2-2, SE Stage 1 intake and flashed the ECM with a Power Vision. All in all it was an easy, yet time consuming job. I want to thank everyone here who has answered my questions in the months leading up to me doing the upgrade. Here are a few observations that will hopefully benefit some and a few questions that maybe someone can answer.
The difference in sound is definately a big jump. I will post a pre and post video once I figure out how to downsize my HD video into a much more manageable web size.
Pipes took about 4 hours, intake about and hour and ECM flash about 15 minutes including PV software update.
When I removed the stock air cleaner there was a capped wired connector clipped to the back, what are my options for attaching this to something? Right now it is just dangling behind the SE backplate.
Part of the reason the pipes took 4 hours was because I was convinced the MoCo left off the exhaust gaskets. They blended right in with the cylinder head and the edge was silver and I could not notice a seam at first. Obviously the new pipes would not go on so I was baffled for a while. I finally took a small pick and started poking around where the gasket should have been and there she was. This Momentary Lapse of Reason (Pink Floyd) on my part cost me about 30-45 minutes.
One concern I have is that I did not torque the O2 sensors because I did not have the proper torque wrench for them. Also, I have no confidence in my cheap click type torque wrench from Harbor Freight. I am going to invest in better torque wrench; can I go back and re-torque where necessary or will that create a problem?
I am getting a slight popping when I let off the throttle or down shift, it's not that bad but is noticeable. I'm assuming this is not normal, is it?
This is my first bike and the first time I did any performance type mechanical work on it. If anyone who is considering a stage 1 has any questions ask away. I'd like to give back to the forum if I can since I got so much help from many here.
Once I figure out the video thing I'll post the pre and post.
I found that same little connector when I did mine. No idea what it is lol.
I'm not sure what it's for either. Apparently there is a nylon clip that's included with the MoCo SE stage 1 kit but Fuel Moto does not provide that clip with their SE kit (go figure). I wish I would have known that instead of wasting a lot of time making sure I didn't lose it or trying to figure out what to do with the dangling wire. I could have zip tied it somewhere while I had the bike apart. Now I need to figure out where to put it.
