Default Trip Report

Just returned from a 1500 mile trip to Deadwood for an end of season ride. Great roads, weather was the craps on one day - low 40's at best, and everyone returned safe.

The hotels were booked solid, good thing we pre booked our rooms. Stayed at the Holiday Inn express and was not to pleased with the $150 per night rate but overall, it was a good choice. Centrally located and clean.

Broke the trip into two days both ways which kept us at a relaxed pace with stops to relax and stretch. Had the mandatory stop for food and wandering at Mecca aka Sturgis. Impressive even a month after the rally. Then hit 14a for the ride into Deadwood. Spend the "break day" wandering around the area and seeing the sights before starting off on the return trip.

The Dyna held up to a steady 75 mph for most of the trip although I wasn't overly impressed with the mileage - about 145 miles per tank. Bought a National Cycle Street Shield and a grantour seat bag for the trip. Two very good choices.

Being my longest rode trip to date, learned a few lessons - bring ear plugs - road and room use (snoring bastards kept me up most nights), pack/wear throw way clothing and buy new along the way when needed and most of all, enjoy the sights along the way.

Now I have the task of cleaning all the bug **** off my bike tomorrow night.

The Hills are great riding. Did you leave any money in the Deadwood slots? Post pictures if you have them.

your starting your riding and this was probably the season ender for me..... As for pics, not much pic wise. Was more of a two day ride, one night drunk and two day ride type of trip.
