Just did another "door to door" trip through 4x states over the weekend....using Google Navigation on the Droid. CT, RI, MA, NH, back to MA..destination was Salem MA...and then in reverse but a different route home by choice.
Was absolutely flawless. We even did a few voluntary changes to the route..and it kept right up with our turns and put us back on the route in a jiffy.

They only issue I'm running into is my current location. I'm stationed in Germany and my phone roams when I leave the country, and I plan on doing trips around Europe...which could get expensive with the data.
It would work good if I can use a preloaded map and not use any data while traveling? Then if I had to re-route I'd pay for roaming.

Still sounds like a dedicated GPS wouldn't hurt.
As an option for you, you can get some special plans..."pass plans"....you pay for what you use, at decent rates, instead of at jacked up roaming rates. People that travel globally frequently use these plans. Talk to your cell provider reps.
Yup, just throw the file into an email from your computer and send it to yourself. Check your email on the phone and Navigon will automatically recognize it and open it.
What file extension do you use when you import from route converter as an email attachment for Navigon Mobile? Am i missing a plug-in?

I normally use the navigon 5 extension. Nope, you shouldn't be missing anything.
I add an extra step by creating the route in google maps. But its the same (if not better) to create it directly in route converter.
Once you create the file, you should be able to just email it to yourself. If that's not working, I would just try to save it as all the different navigon mobile options and see which works. It could be a software thing - 4, 5, 6 etc. 5 has just always worked for me, so i haven't tried the others.
I wouldn't subject my 4s to the vibration on my bars. Get a real GPS!
???? What's the point of getting another GPS? I keep my 4 in my windshield bag (it also has an otter box case on it) and I don't even have to look at it. Turn by turn directions are great.
