Hi there from Australia, am new to site and have had an old 1974 xlh bobber with a 1979 xlch iron head kick start engine in it. havent seen many of these bikes around and was wondering if anyone knew some history about motor or frame ?
The 74 XLH frame came with a swing arm and rear shocks ( All sportsters back to when they were first made came with fiull rear suspension). Your current hardtail frame is either an aftermarket frame, or a aftermarket rear hardtail section was welded to the front half of the stock 74 frame. Best to look under the seat to check the welds, materials, etc. to tell.
The 79 iron head 4 speed "I believe" came in 100cc displacement as well as smaller discplacements. I had a 75' ironhead 1000cc sporty, it was a great bike! Enjoy!
