Default Trying to justify heated jacket liner

Ok, here's the deal. I'm thinking about buying a heated jacket liner.

I hang the bike keys up when the roads get salted.

That could happen anytime from mid october to, well, the latest I remember was mid december.

A warm n safe (made in usa) jacket liner is going to run me around 250.

The bike costs 100 dollars a month in gas. The car costs double that.

So, I would need two months of extra riding time to break even, and then some. That could happen this year, but more likely over the course of three years, depending on when they put salt down.

So anyway, I can't decide if it is worth the expense for what could be a whole month, or just an extra week or two of riding. I will ride down to 40 with my regular, non-heated gear.

And the other end of it is that i sort of feel like heated gear is, well, idk... cheating.

only YOU can say whether a heated jacket liner is worth the cost.
I can say... I've never heard anyone regret their purchase... but there's always gonna be someone

FYI, you might look into Gerbings outlet prices http://heatedclothingoutlet.com/index.shtml

I live in Ga. and I ride down to 20 degrees, I have the liner and the gloves and both are well worth the money for me. I get off work at 12:30 am and it gets pretty chilly that time of night. Do it.

I don't even bother trying to justify expenses with riding or gear. If it is going to extend the riding season and you love riding, go get it.

I would say, stick with the Gerbing brand, they have been around and give a lifetime warranty.

If you can afford and it serves your purpose you don't need to justify anything. But that's just me.

I have both the gerbings liner and outer pants. Both to me are well worth the price and at gerbings outlet not really that bad in price.

If you never had a heated jacket you don't know what you are missing and once your body gets a chill in it on a long ride you can't shake it until you get to someplace warm. With the heated jacket you just turn up the thermostat and you are nice and toasty ready to ride longer while enjoying the ride.

It will extent your riding time for sure. It's LIKE SUMMER on the inside! Heated gear is some of the best money spend.

Salt on roads..... That's another story.

Good Luck & Ride Safe.

The only justification you need for buying a good liner is that it will make your riding more enjoyable every time you ride when it's cool/cold. Mine is a HD (Gerbings) w/ temp controller.
