you can get incredibly good seafood almost anywhere , roadside stands offering 'catch of the day' have better food than many restaurants i've been in , just because it's fresh out of the ocean and simply prepared . had several amazing bowls of chowder too . dang ! i might have to go back , i'm getting hungry !

it's a middle-eastern thing really , they just changed the name slightly when they started selling them in Halifax http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donair
here in Toronto they call them shawarma , and there's almost as many as there are coffee shops

I made it to Halifax (with a cousin) in '81 and it was an amazing ride!
We almost missed the last ferry from New Brunswick to Nova Scotia so on the return trip to Maine we got to the dock a couple of hours early and proceeded to "empty" our coolers and chatted with some folks who worked the scallop boats out in the harbor and we had a blast.
The ferry to Maine was like a partyboat!
I've always wanted to go to New Foundland and spend more time visiting with folks as opposed to quickly passing through due to a deadline to get back to work.
I had planned the N.F. trip for last year but the couple that was going to go with us asked if we could do a trip out west instead.
I'm thinking 2013 may work if my wife can get away from work.
