I am getting a HD soon, have not ruled out used. I have searched but have not came across any answers to any high mileage issues or what is high mileage? I know my F6 can go over 200,000 and not need anything. should I be concerned with an 2008 road glide with 30,000 miles? what would any issues be, will there be any noticeable noise anywhere? It's at a dealer and if they offer warranty I guess it doesn't matter as much.
30,000 miles on a well maintained bike that has had regular oil changes should be no problem. I don't even think 10,000 miles per year on a bike designed to tour would be considered high mileage.
Miles would not bother me as much as maintenance. If the maintenance is kept up then 30k would be not big deal. I would asked to see if they have detailed records of the bike. If it was serviced by them they should. I keep all my records of services I have done since it doesn't go to the dealer for service
If the price is right then 30k miles on the bike wouldn't be bad.
There are a ton of used bikes out there with less than 20k miles on them at a good price.
And that's the way I would go.
I am seeing a lot of 07 up road kings under 10K miles, but this road glide popped up Mirage Orange and got my attention for $8K less than a new Orang road king even though I prefer king looks. the gilde reminds me more of my '82 CBX with that fairing ! and I do like gadgets/toys.
I was talking to guy at our toy run today and he mentioned at some point harley changed valves/lifters design ??? and they needed replaced at 50K
what is that about, earlier design??? this is a 96"
30K would only bother me if it was on a '99-'06. Then the cam tensioners are at risk. '07 & up has the hydraulic system, and Evos can go over 100K with no problem.
