I have a new TPS in hand but cannot get to the rear torx screw to remove old one. Fuelmoto thinks either TPS or Idle Air control motor.
Very limited room to access the rear torx screw, I have 3 different types of torx bits but not enough room, tomorrow I will buy a torx key set, hopefully they will fit in the tight space.
One thing for sure, torx screws will not go back in. Button head allen screws so ball end Allen T-handle will get to it easier...... At least it sounds like a good idea.
For gigles when you pull it out open the old one by removing the tin cover. Both mine had water damage also pics would be great for others that want to see inside. You could even do a step by step for those attempting this task.
Success! New TPS installed, cranked right up and within seconds it calmed down to a about 1000k idle or so after warming up. Back to normal thank god, it was bugging the crap out of me.
Tip: Buy a set of Torx keys instead of the type that fits on a ratchet as there is no room to access the rear Torx screw, the key style fit well. (still a pain in the *** though)
Further inspection of the old TPS: could not find any moisture build up or any visual damage inside the piece. Even after disassembly I did not see any damaged parts, really not much to it. Small hair size fingers contacting the outer housing where a conductive strip is located.
