Violent front end shake

bushings may help , but won't fix it ...I prefer solids , once you go 16 and up , even poly bushings kinda suck.
its not your apes , handlebars themselves cant cause shake , what they can do ( especially wide tall bars ) is amplify what was always there. in other words ..you might have had a slight shimmy that you didn't even notice , but with apes , your hands are up further from the tire , and wider...your gonna notice that they exaggerate any move that tire makes
make sure your front tire is in great shape, but mostly, make damn sure your neck bearings are set-up correctly

+ 1 on checking the front tire and neck bearings/ fall away.
I run 16" apeas and can let go completely at speeds in excess of 50 mph with no shake or wobble at all. It is not your bars. However, poly or solid bushings will take away the spongy feeling.

Well I had another tank slapper yesterday...so back to the dealer I went. The tires, wheels and neck bearings have been checked and rechecked many times. I was pretty pissed off when I got there, so they brought 3 mechanics out to look at my bike and discuss our options.
One of the mechanics grabbed my handlebars and was able to completely compress the forks just by shoving on the bars. They're now thinking that I might have a broken spring in one of the forks. I'm taking the bike back today so they can rebuild the forks.
Let's hope that's it...

I went on a toys for tots run recently and noticed that some of the bike's handlebars and rear fenders shook like hell when we were stopped, but my bike and most others I saw didn't. Was there something wrong with their bikes, or is that the result of not having a balanced or rubber mounted engine? Made me wonder... It didn't look comfortable.

I'm not going to be any help on the tank slapper problem but I am wondering about if you've gotten stopped for such tall bars in AZ? My son has 16s and got pulled over the first time we went there.

Interesting, I had a similar problem with mine when I put the apes on. I heard every thing from discontinued tires to bad brake pads. In my case it was just the front springs but I have a springer. Maybe it is somthing in your front end?
