Still raining here in SW Michigan. Second day in a row I didnt ride. Mornings are cool on the highway, but overpants, sweater, leather jacket, good gloves, 1/2 helmet with flip shield down, neoprene face mask, I look like a crook, but stay pretty comfy down into the high 30's. Once it gets into the mid 30's bridges and overpasses can be challenging! Salt on the road is what calls it off for me.
Clear skies and 22 degrees this morning.....figure 2 or 3 more weeks if lucky.....usually take a few rides in November....in Nebraska, you just never know!
76 degrees here today. Sun shining and wind blowing at less then eight miles per hour. Haven't had enough rain this year to fill a boot. I am not a complainer because karma is a bitch. I don't want to see what she has in store for complainers.
I rode to work yesterday morning. In the mid 50's when I left the house. It gets up to the high 70's or low 80's most days this time of year. My Road King got wet and dirty yesterday because of the fog, but it really doesn't rain much in SoCal. I'll be the first to admit that the only good thing about California right now is the weather, and I still have a job. I hope spring arives early in Ohio.
Rode every day this October. Rarely see another rider. Rain has been predicted over half of the time. It has been mostly before or after the ride. A few times went through light rain.
Saw plenty of fall colors, red farms harvesting grain, green farms harvesting grain, semi loads of corn going to the alcohol plants, last weekend of flea markets trying to snag the last sales, farm stands with pumpkins, farm stands with apples and a few lonely squad cars waiting for a volunteer.
It has been mostly in the 40's, overcast and very windy but not bad at all. Leather coat with a hooded sweat shirt under it, warm gloves and 2nd pair of pants with a FF helmet makes for very comfortable riding. I enjoyed every mile of the 900 miles this month. I did start to wonder where the tattooed, bearded, leather vested over wife beater t-shirt, bulging muscled bad *** bikers were. They have all disappeared. The two biggest biker bars in north west Illinois are Poppy's and the Iron Horse Social Club. Every time I have went by only cars were parked there.
They have left a senior citizen with bad knees, bad hip joints and a multitude of aches and pains to represent Hd's on the road. I am being to think that those who try to look the part are shallow images of what they think that they are. They are a bunch of pansies.
We've had a week of cold, windy, wet weather in mid Michigan. Week end outlook much better. May join a ride out of local Harley dealership on Sat. Ever notice how 40 degrees in March seems so warm after a long winter and how that same 40 degrees seems to cold in October after a long hot summer? Just a matter of perspective I guess.
