Overcooked it big time into a right hand sweeper as well as completely messing up my approach into the corner. Honestly, i couldn't have screwed up a corner better if had tried to do it intentionally!
Went in too hard, too fast, and wrong angle of approach and ended up about an inch on my side of the center line, new foot board is plowing a groove in the asphalt along with my exhaust bracket, had my *** off the seat and hanging out, and all I am thinking is Lean, don't touch the brakes, lean, don't touch the brakes, lean!!
Had it under control, just decided I was gonna make it and then a cage comes tearing around the corner half in my lane. All I can see is the drivers side headlight approaching front and center, fast! I was getting ready for the worst when the driver realized what was about to happen and dived back over to his side. We must have missed each other by no more than a few inches.
I aint gonna sit and rag out on the cager for being halfway across my side, I shouldn't have let myself get into that spot to begin with, just happy to have lived and learned. I must also say that my new rear Avon stuck to the road like glue, I don't believe the old Scorcher would have held on like the Avon did!
I had something similar happen with some light gravel in the apex of a turn
I did go into the other lane in the blind curve but luckily there was no car coming.
Didn't enter the turn too fast, just washed out in the apex.
Thanks for being honest and not blaming the bike, the car or the alignment of the stars! And so glad you didn't "have to lay it down...."
I did the same thing a oouple of days ago, not as bad, but just not paying attention.
Betcha' you ( or I,) won't do that again anytime soon!
My family says I am easily distracted by shiny objects. (They don't know boobies, have same effect). One reason I ride, is it forces me to focus. I know the penalty for inattention may be death or serious injury. And not one of those BS, CYA warnings. For real.
