I read lots of posts about guys having trouble finding their way into neutral when coming to a stop or once completely stopped. I have been having that problem on my newly acquired '07 Ultra myself. Although my '04 Dyna has never given me a single problem as it slides into neutral effortlessly and with a very distinct feel so as I don't even need to look for the green light, I just know it's in there. I am careful not to ovefill the primary as the manual states it could cause clutch issues and specifically that finding neutral can be a problem. When I bought the Ultra, this summer, the guy had just had his dealer do the 20K service. I just clicked 4K on it so decided it was time to changeout the fluids. I've always done my own fluid changes and run HD Formula Plus Primary and Trans. Lube. Put exactly 38 ounces in there (as the manual stated) and low and behold, the bike slips right into neutral, just like the Dyna. No clutch adjustment necessary, just the right amount of fluid.
It's the six speed that can be problematic. Sometimes one or two thousand miles does it. Other bikes need a careful fluid change. Some other's need a clutch adjustment. Then there's the ones that need all three. There is an easy netural at the end of the tunnel.
I had some problems finding it on my 08 dyna. I usually have to get the edge of my boot on the edge of the clutch **** while the bike is rolling and slowly click up from first gear to find the neutral middle ground. Once stopped and at idle, I've found it almost impossible to get into for some reason. When the bike is off, I cant get into neutral from 1st or can very rarely. I have to click up to 2nd then tap down into Neutral. Finnicky sum bi**h but it's no biggie really. Just learned what works over time.
