So first off, I did use the search function. There is a lot of good info here on the site, though a lot of it seems out-dated. The killer deals that a lot of you found are no longer available. Here's what I need:
Basic, quality, well-made plain black leather vest. Needs to be made in America. I plan on sewing patches on it, so no embroidery, frilly tassels or any of that. A pocket on the inside would be great. I plan on wearing it over a t-shirt in the summer and over a leather jacket in the winter.
I don't want to say that price isn't an option, because I am always looking to be practical with my money. That said, I have no problem paying for quality and I want this vest to last 20 years, not 20 months.
Where is the best place to look? I am hoping to reuse all of the time you guys have spent researching this and not start from scratch.
Yep. As heavy as a leather jacket and made in the USA.
Quality you can see and feel compared to other brands that people claim are just as good and cost less. Side by side you see the difference.
Depends on what you want and how much you want to spend.
I have a 25 yr old HD vest that was made in the USA and it still looks great.
Go check out Bates Discount Cycle Parts on I35E, from McKinney, head west across the toll road / 121 towards Lewisville, go south on I35E. They are on the right side of the freeway, take the Valwood Pkwy exit. It's between Valwood Pkwy and Valley View Ln. Address: 14007 N. Stemmons Frwy, Dallas TX 75234, 972-620-0929.
I have bought all of my leather there, very reasonable prices, so I think anyway.
He does, but someone else posted calling them direct and mentioning you're a HDForum member got them a nice discount.
So, if buying another I'd call and find out how much first.
