OK I know most of you Harley junkies peruse Craigslist now & then, even if you're not in the market for a new sled. I do too. So I'm sure you're all familiar with the standard scam--Someone,usually a 'woman" is selling a beautiful Harley for a ridiculously cheap price--in this case a lo mile Fatboy for $1400.00. When you email them about it, they reply that they are selling it for their Son/ brother/ father whatever who is being deployed/dying/dead/whatever. The "bike" is usually in some shipping terminal in some far off city, waiting for Ebay transaction & they will ship you the bike. I recognize these immediately,as they are almost always worded the same, with incredibly bad English. Have been corresponding with "Melissa" in Lakeland Florida, who said the "bike" is in a shipping terminal in NYC,waiting to be delivered. Here is my reply to her on that "Melissa--I am actually from NY & have many friends there, one of whom will
come give you the funds in person & check out the bike. He is a NY police
officer,so you can trust him. What is your adress?" Rich
Nope! I did pretty much the same thing when selling a bike! They were going to send their agent over to pay for the bike and get it shipped! I sent an email telling them that their agent could pick it up from my agent at the FBI! Never heard another word
When you reply to an email like this one that his/her email has been forwarded to the FBI and Interpol along with the IP address, it normally stops the dialog. I wonder why....
