I have heard that the standard tip rate now is 18%. I usually calculate based on the bill WITH tax. If I got poor service, then I deduct from there.
In Tennessee, the tipped minimum wage is $2.13/hr. They are supposed to enter in how much they made in tips for each shift and it has to total $7.25/hr minimum. If not the employer has to make up the difference. I know/have known plenty of people that work like this and they strive to give the best service they can to get a good tip. Heck I once gave a girl a 200% tip on a bill because she rubbed her ***** against me every time she came to the table....LOL But, if they don't earn it, I don't give it. My lack of paying the customary rate is called TRAINING. They get a small tip from me and they should be looking at what they did wrong while waiting on me.
Tip an INDY for something I am paying him/her to do? No way. Talk to his tech's and get free info and advice/help. Sure I will tip the shop in some way (Lunch).
I didn't tip the gal that cut my hair either. She did not work for a shop and get paid hourly. She rented her own space and set her own prices. She figured in what she wanted to make off the deal herself. Now, go to Supercuts or some place like that and I will tip the gal/guy since they are not getting the lion's share. Heck, I have walked in and been talking to the shop type guys and here one of them cussing the computer. Walk over and asked if I could help and they had a simple problem but no knowledge on how to fix it. I fix it for them and the next time they remember me when I come in. I sure don't expect that though.
I try to do most the maintenance myself... that being said when, there is something I can't handle, I call my pal who's an ace indy mechanic... his usual fee ranges from a 6 pack to a case of beer & a pack of smokes, which I happily pay... then I throw him a dime bag (which in today's market amounts to a couple bowls at best) as a tip...
Yeah and then the next guy's bike gets all fubared because the mechanic is high when working on it....
I don't believing in tipping mechanics and I only did once when a service tech went went out of his way above and beyond to do me a favor. When I gave him the $5 I told him why I was giving it to him. Otherwise, at $95+ hourly rates, they can get what they can from the shop. I assume they don't get paid under minimum wage like waiters.
Yeah and then the next guy's bike gets all fubared because the mechanic is high when working on it....
Fat lot up know... but I forgot... you're the weed police... any little mention of it you're in all in a tizzy... seriously why don't you just put me on your ignore list so as I don't offend you? (...cuz we all know that a bowl of weed is so much worse for you than a case of beer... )
and totally agree. I would rather tip the mechanic who does an excellent job for me than the employees in Starbuck who pour coffee and water in a cup and charge me $3 plus. A good mechanic is priceless.
My bike is making so much noise due to damage in it’s silencer, I want to know from where I can get it replaced or repaired in my downtown. I was trying to put booster in it to make it superfast but they damage my bikes silencer. any suggestion.
