It was 29 this morning when I left for work. I've ridden at that temp before. Today, I took the car.

I have never had heated gear, but then again, I live in TX. The days when it is too cold to ride, there is likely to be ice. My general rule is below 32 degrees, I take the truck. Too risky with the chase for ice.

They are nice, had them on my sled but most say they aren't for use with internally wired bars. If they weren't so damn expensive I'd get a set and try it.

To OP,
Good Gear/Clothing will cost you some $. Yet good advice is priceless.
Here's a tip, Begin braking and downshifting for intersections WELL before you normally would. In colder temps, seems to me the oil, tranney fluids and grease on the road, around intersections get slicker quicker in colder temps.
I've been on 3 unwanted fishtail rides/slides
(crapped my drawers all 3 times)
Odd? Though, I could have sworn the road was dry.
It's no fun being what amounts to a passenger on a fishtailing bike.
Best of luck!

I draw the line at 32, just because of ice.

I used to say if it got to 42 I could ride anywhere. Now over 20 years later that number has increased at least 10 degrees, and that's just for a short ride, I'm a ***** now when it comes to riding in cold weather, give me warm weather!

We had a good run over the hill into Oregon and back. The snow wasn't so much of a problem but when it turned to ice pellets it was absolutely painful, even through a bandana. Broke out the FF today. Not going through that again.

I had my one and only experience with ice in college. Riding home. Dropped the bike at least 12 times. Going slow so did not get hurt, but learned lesson. There is no way, absolutely no way, you can navigate two wheels on ice. Unless you have spikes.

No way I would head over the hill with a chance of snow, you're nuts!!!! Good call on the FF, only problem is the fogging of the shield. I went all last year with the half lid, not sure what I was thinking!
