The problem is I would venture to say that a bone stock HD would violate this law. I woudl bring this to HDs attention but do you know what would happen? Theyd make the bikes even quieter..... No good to bring it to there attention........ It will only make it worse on the bikes. Not like they are willlig to have a lightbulb come on and go "oh we are supporting an act that even our OEM bikes cannot pass"
It may be a fad nationwide, but in Carefree, they are targeting bikers and working to bikers specifically out of the neighborhood. I may not have been around as long as you (i'm 32), but this has got to be one of the worst cases of discrimination, I have seen. They are targeting bikers specifically.
Personal watercraft is exempt from any noise control enforcement. The ordinance allows it!
Im only 33, but we dealt with it big time in Southern California when I was in high school with the tuners and trucks. Huge fines, especially for a teenager, and demanding it fixed and proving it to the court that it has been fixed. Same kind of deal. Im guessing that carefree is a lil bitty town, if so they are trying to make a point and thats sh!ttty to say the least but my point was I dont see it spreading nationwide.
Actually it is spreading nationwide, in fact worldwide. In the US and Canada especially, what they can't get passed at the State and Provincial level, they are making law at the municipal level. There are a number of cities in North America that have the laws (however, they usually target more than just bikes) and they are growing every day. I like my aftermarket pipes as much as the next guy, but as they say....you can't fight city hall. I guess it's just a sign of the times.
I wonder if it has anything to do with Sonny Barger living there. Useless laws that allow the police to pull over just about any bike they want to seem to follow the H.As around. This is nothing new.
Sonny Barger lives in Carefree? Can you substantiate that? If so, that would be a real nifty piece of info.
I picked up a Harley magazine just the other day and this was the topic in the editorial. I couldn't believe that the editor had the nerve to go on and on about how it was the aftermarket exhaust companies and us that were to blame and yet he didn't seem to have a problem selling these companies ad space in the magazine. Pick a side of the fence and stick with it.
