If you do buy a "sport" type bike from Harley, you can be assured that in a few model years it will be obsolete. Long list of examples, Buell, FXR, FXRS, FXDX, 883R, 1200R, XR1200, Street Rod, probably more. By the time there is interest in it, poof, gone, along with factory/aftermarket support. The Sportster is the moco's Thunderbird, a bloated relic of the original sporting bent performance vehicle, one test recently showed it to be heavier and slower then an old Sporty. I like my Deuce and my Ultra, but I would be leary of buying an instant orphan that a performance street bike from Harley demonstrably would be.

Things must be slow for someone to dig up this old chestnut of a thread. This is so old that many of the folks who commented originally are no longer members of this forum, or at least don't bother commenting anymore. This bike, if it was ever a serious consideration, never came into being. Harley hasn't introduced a new-from-the-ground-up model in decades and, given the state of the world's economies, won't do so any time soon. They are slimmed down and profitable selling what they are selling. Coming for 2014: fewer models, different colors, and . . . wait for it . . . higher prices. life in the slow lane.

Not for me. Buy my 18 y.o. son would jump all over that. No interest in a geezer bike.
