Don't ever wear a full faced helmet that doesn't have a shield unless you like bugs getting in where you can't get them out. Crawling into your ear or a stinging your face. Rain is another issue. JMO

My last two crashes, (granted, one was in the dirt) I've landed face first.

The one in the street, I split both lips and knocked a tooth loose, and that was with a full face helmet.

I'm ugly enough as it is. I'm sticking with full-face. Just my $0.02

I've had Bell's, Shoei's, HJC's Simpson's and Arai's . . . and I have had the distinct honor and pleasure to field (or asphalt) test more than one, both with motorcycles and with road racing cars.

If you kind of like your face the way it is now, and you enjoy seeing things? A full face Snell approved helmet with a shield is always a good choice . . . beyond that . . . your call!

Hello

I have a HD Modular and I love it. It is very comfortable. If you are buying a new bike they should give you a discount on your riding gear.

The only full face helmet I've ever had meets all my requirements for marathon rides, cold weather, inclement weather operations.

It's not spendy but has everything I need when I need it.

I love the Scorpion EXO 1000. It has a fog free outer shield and a flip down internal sun shield for when you need a little extra sun protection. The are slowly being replaced buy the 1100 series which has the same features.

Oh, and welcome to the forum from San Diego, CA.

I've been using an HJC IS-Max for over a year. IMHO, go modular if you are going FF.

Bell Star, their reputation proceeds them...

They normally run anywhere from $550 - $700, but you can get certain styles on e-bay for around $300. DOT and Snell M2010, light and comfortable.
