Default Why was a thread censored ?

I was reading the conversation regarding Billy Lane. The thread is now closed, no further comments allowed. This is the first time I have seen a censored topic on this forum.

I have been reading this forum for many years and never seen this before.

What is the line that must be crossed to shut down an argument?

Thanks for your response.

I would imagine it's at the mods discretion to decide if a forum rule has been violated and if it warrants closing a particular thread. On some forums there are a lot of folks that complain to the mods and that also impacts what happens. I get the feeling that on this forum there aren't too many cry babies that run to the mods every time their feelings get hurt, but who knows.

I have been on several threads that disappear into the ether. Usually you can see it coming, and I can understand why they're pulled.

You haven't been reading them that close. Quite a few threads get locked over the crude hatefulness expressed or the subject matter. The mod explained why he was locking that thread on the last two pages of it. He almost spelled it out. Go back and read the last two pages.

Open forum threats or PM'd threats to members here at HDF will not be tolerated, never have never will, a moderator came into the thread and asked folks to calm it down, appears folks didn't want to calm it down. If a thread is closed or removed, don't start a thread asking why, I think it was pretty obvious and it wastes my time and the moderators time here trying to explain it we are all volunteers we try to keep out the trash, trolls, spammers and trouble makers, so you can enjoy the forums. You might want to read our rules pertaining to this. Also the SOPA ain't got nothing to do with IB's rules that have been in place for many years we are not a democracy here, HDF is a privately owned forum, so don't try to play the freedom of speech here or a political jab....we let y'all run on your own for the most part, we try to let folks work out disagreements, you don't see us much here, but you will if needed we do a lot behind the scenes you never see, when there's a complaint or violations of IB's rules we will step in. It was asked more than once to calm it down.

15. Moderators and Administrators have final word in anything and everything. If you have a problem or a complaint direct it to them, not to the general forums. They will then take the appropriate actions. This applies to issues with the forum in general, as well as issues with other members. Do not attack a Moderator or an Admin on the open forum. If your thread or post is pulled by a Moderator/Admin do not start another thread or post on the same topic. Violation of this rule may cause immediate banning from HDForums. If you have a problem with a Moderator then you need to work it out with them via pm's, email or contact an Admin.

Had one a year ago and couple people were throwing some pretty low punches at each other. It closed while I was in it and it totally disappeared. I had started it about in all serious accidently running over a snake and filling bad. (I have a soft heart and hate to see anything die without a legal hunting season on it) Anyway it went to people hitting things on purpose and such. Moderator yanked it. They did not censor me or anything so I thought it was the mudslinging. I think the moderators do a fine job and appreciate they take the time to monitor us. Want it to stay PG. Many a times I would not want wife or grandchildren looking over my shoulder on here.
