I make a right turn coming home from work today, after the turn there's 3 lanes of traffic 3 deep to my left waiting on the light. Then I notice some clown in a car sitting about 90 feet back from that traffic.
As I pass the cars waiting for the light I see a car in my peripheral coming from my left. The clown is sitting there with his palm facing out through his windshield (as in "stop").
Turns out the clown was trying to let someone out making a left turn in front of him and was giving "hand signals". Didn't work too well, the turning car almost hits the car behind me and then squeezes in between that one and the next guy.
I was the one that "saved the day", if I hadn't appeared when I did and scared the crap out of the driver of the turning car he would've rolled out into the lane hitting the car behind me.
If I'd been 2 seconds earlier, my left leg (and a few other body parts) would be useless right now.
If anyone thinks they need to "direct" traffic, think again. Don't do favors, traffic should be predictable even if it sucks. The police are damn good at directing traffic, leave it to them when they deem it necessary.

Was in downtown Raleigh the other day and some dumbazz in front of me stops, lets a person in the opposite lane make a U turn in front of him and then proceeds to do a 3 point / parallel park all the while holding up traffic. And a LOT of it at that. You can't fix stupid. You just can't. Mine was just inconvenient. Your's could have been worse. Glad you're ok.

That fit's the dumbazz description without a doubt.

I was just "there", no amount of attention or ability would've changed anything. This is often an easy statement to argue with, but the time between me being able to see the guy "directing" traffic and then seeing the left-turn driver in my periphal was way less than the difference 2nd and 3rd gear.
