In Ohio we have many random Auto check points --Only Ohio Highway Patrol officers can conduct them--they flag you over at check points and conduct mandatory vehicle inspections--They do this in spite of the fact that Ohio does not require a vehicle in spection to get your plates--In my opinion its another tax and step toward converting us to a Russian speaking country--So they should also cut funding for auto stops also-
The WI guys have been fighting this locally and Nationally for years. Good for them and hope they continue. This has been an issue for quite sometime. What the government does not understand is that cycle riders seem to take care of their bikes more than their cars. Have you seen some of the POS cars and trucks on the road and they are never questioned? Granted there are a few bikes on the road that should not be, but the majority of the riders understand that their safety is in jeopardy with a poorly maintained bike.
I say concentrate more on the real crimes being committed than spending time and money on specialized stops for the overpaid cops... most of the times they will be officers who are brought in on overtime to sit and watch for bikers to pull over! That is so wrong!
The law makers need to concentrate on the distracted driving issues we all face. Drivers needs to get thrown in jail when caught texting and face huge penalties when they cause an accident.
Exactly. How are motorcycle check points going to help all those involved in accidents where the people in cages claim, "I didn't see him"?

I remember those Ohio checks. They've been doing them since sometime in the 1960s, IIRC. I left in 1971; surprised, and glad for y'all, that it hasn't gone past that point.
One of those Ohio inspection stickers (do they still give them if you're stopped and pass?) caused me grief in South Carolina. Had one that was old still on the windshield of a truck that belonged to my Dad. Cop tried telling me I had an expired sticker, needed to get an SC sticker, etc. Judge told him he was wrong. Good ol' Hanahan, SC - barf!
