You're probably going to wish you had one, especially on the way back, but you don't need one. Considering you experienced fatigue issues on a shorter ride, 750 a day might be a little ambitious. Fighting the wind resistance generated from doing 75 to 85 mph for 750 miles can wear on a body. First day shouldn't be a problem but residual fatigue might be a factor on the second day. Residual fatigue might also be a factor to consider when planning your return trip schedule. Enjoy the run! Nothin' like open road riding.
Fatigued at 250 and you're asking about 750 two days in a row with a return trip to come? I think you might have answered your own question. Get a detachable so that you can leave it off and look cool on short trips. Or don't get it and look like an idiot when you possibly wreck from all the fatigue on the long one. Your choice.
Depends a lot on your age and general condition whether a shield would a good thing or not . End of a 500 mile day without one usually leaves a guy fairly beat up . 20's , 30's and even into your 40's no big thing , older guys don't have the upper body nor lower back they used to so your gonna take a harder hit . Weather and the fuggin bugs can up the ante a bunch too and it's love bug season with this warm *** winter so be prepaired to snack a lot without one .
Even one of the smaller cheap handlebar clamp on units will help a lot and you can pull it off for profiling the main drag easy enough .

Good thoughts TZ. Profiling on the main drag is a lot different than profiling on the superslab.
